 Strong hair first. Everything else follows. I assess the condition, elasticity, porosity, and your home care so we are working with your hair to be the best it can be.

 Once I understand the full picture, I use my experience to advise what is achievable now, what needs time, and how we get there safely.

Hairdressing has changed all around the world, but in Australia alone around 70% of artists are choosing to work for themselves, some are choosing to go straight into self-employment as soon as their apprenticeship finishes.

Why are so many of us leaving, walking away from building someone else’s dream, if it’s supposedly safer and easier?

Because the reality is, it’s not just about freedom, purpose, or money. What sits underneath each of those means something different for everyone.

For eg freedom might mean not having anxiety every time you wait for a holiday form to be approved only to find out you can’t go because someone else already booked that time off.

It’s missing milestones in your life to sacrifice for someone else’s business.

That might sound harsh, and I know there are businesses that do things differently, but the truth is, I’m constantly hearing stories of bullying, underpayment, staying late without pay, and hitting massive targets for very little reward.

Honestly, that doesn’t sound appealing, and that’s why we choose to work for ourselves.

Is it difficult? Absolutely. It comes with challenges. But the difference is, those challenges are yours to solve, & that’s rewarding.

That’s where I step in. I’m invested in helping those who feel trapped somewhere they don’t belong, who’ve been made to believe they won’t make enough money or that they won’t make it on their own.
I want you to see past that and see your worth. Because it’s never worth staying somewhere you feel unseen.
You can’t perform at your best when you’re not valued.

Are you leaving your roots too long between appointments?

I’m not talking about a few lived in peekaboo highlights. I’m talking about full scalp bleaches and those high lift contrast blondes.

What most people don’t realise is that everyone has a personal grow out timeframe. If you let your roots go past that, you’ll face more problems than just paying a little extra at your appointment.

Hair doesn’t grow in a straight line, which means overlap is unavoidable, and that’s where damage and breakage happen.

And remember, bleach has a time limit. No matter how experienced your colourist is, it has to come off before your hair reaches the point of disintegration. Whatever lift we’ve achieved at that moment is what we have to work with. If you’ve left it too long between appointments, that could mean ending up with a blonde that’s warmer or more yellow than the icy finish you wanted.

I know it seems crazy to think leaving bleach on longer will keep lifting, right? Wrong. Bleach will plateau, stop lifting, and just sit there causing damage. That’s why we rinse when we do, then tone appropriately with the lift we’ve achieved.

So my recommendation is this. If you want your hair to stay healthy, avoid damage, and walk out with a gorgeous bright blonde, don’t gamble with that extra week. Stick to the timing your colourist recommends.

My secret sauce is transformative corrective colour work and truly understanding the person sitting in my chair, offering a full hair analysis paired with an honest consultation!

Today, I work for myself as a solo artist in an intimate space where every appointment is one on one, tailored and intentional for my clients.

But just like life, things need to grow and change. And as any true entrepreneur knows, one niche is never enough. Being surrounded by freelancers and entrepreneurs, I kept hearing the same doubts on repeat, doubts that couldn’t be unheard, Won’t I be lonely? Not sure how to start?
